Compliance doesn’t have to be complicated.

RISK ASSESSMENT

Protect your employees, your customers and your reputation.

Our Health and Safety consultants can take away the hassle of Risk Assessment reports, and ensure your business meets legal compliance, while you focus on other aspects of your business.

Why do Risk Assessments matter?

Whether you are a large company, family run business, self-employed, or contractor, you are exposed to potential risk of accident or injury. A risk assessment identifies hazards, examines their likelihood and potential impact, and layouts of policies and procedures to help reduce the risk of an incident occurring. Protecting your team, customers and your company’s reputation.

The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations have made it a legal requirement for every UK company; no matter the size, to carry out risk assessments. Therefore, risk assessment provides evidence of legal compliance for Health and Safety.

Risk Assessment FAQs

What factors are considered in a Risk Assessment?

A risk assessment should demonstrate that:

  • A thorough check was carried out
  • Anyone that could be affected was considered
  • All significant risks were assessed
  • There are adequate precautions implemented
  • The consequential risk is low
Who should a Risk Assessment consider?

Risk assessments should account for the fact that different people will be vulnerable to different types of risks. Shift workers may not receive the same level of training as full time employees, young workers may lack experience, expectant mothers may be more vulnerable to health risks etc. This level of detail should be considered to ensure that no one is excluded from a hazard analysis.

Are risk assessments a legal requirement?

Regulation 3 of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, states that it is a legal requirement for every employer and self-employed person to make an assessment of the health and safety risks arising out of their work.

How often do I need to conduct risk assessments?
  • Regularly- typically reviewed annually or after any significant change in operations, equipment, staff, or workplace layout.
  • After an incident or near-miss- to reassess risks and improve controls.
  • When introducing new processes or equipment – to identify and mitigate any new hazards.
  • Periodically- even without changes or incidents, to ensure current measures remain effective and legally compliant.
